The Most-Anticipated One

What does the state of Texas have to do with Bible predictions about the coming of Christ??

It has been said that the scores of prophecies in the Old Testament regarding the coming Messiah, served to precisely identify and authenticate Him. Each prophecy specified something of the coming King, signalling and confirming that He was One Israel had been waiting for.

Taken together, they pinpoint Him as being the Son of David, the ultimate Anointed One.

To those who were watchful and vigilant, the long-anticipated Prince of Peace was the only One in all of human history who fit the prophetic profile perfectly.

Jesus of Nazareth was the most anticipated Person ever to be born!

Christian apologist Josh McDowell has calculated the probability of having even 8 Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in a single individual as being 10 to the power 17.

He gives a more tangible explanation*: if the state of Texas was covered with silver dollars 2 feet (0.61 m) deep and one of them was marked with an X, the chance that wandering into the state, you could pick that marked dollar the first time, is 10 to the power 17.

Takeaway: As I marvel at the wonder of Christ’s coming this Christmas season, I will spend more time investigating the careful, deliberate trail of prophetic declarations in the Old Testament.
